After several years of fiddling with dodgy home keyboards in front of drunken mobs and disco dancers CasioNova presented the first full length theatrical version of the show as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2003 at Bar Open.
"One ridiculous, charming and entertaining event is CasioNova ... a nostalgic romp through the electronic home keyboards of the 1980s. The height of geek chic, CasioNova and his band AutoChord perform original songs on the Commodore 64 computer and a variety of other superannuated home electronics. Vastly amusing." - Fiona Scott-Norman, Melbourne AgeCasioNova won the 'Most Innovative Cabaret Concept' award in the Melbourne Fringe and was nominated for a Green Room award. Since the Fringe Festival CasioNova has learnt how to play in time and write better songs and replaced his slideshow with wizz bang newfangled video projection, oh and sacked the backing band 'AutoChord' in favour of the real thing. He is now off to Finland in August 2004 to represent his country at the International Symposium for Electronic Arts. |

Sound Requirements
Any questions you might have just contact myself. When performing out of town a place to sleep for one after the gig is required. The show is solo and for gigs in Australia I have my own sound engineer. It is customary for CasioNova to have a guest artist to join him in the last few songs, usually a singer. So if you know of anyone who would like to make a guest appearance while I am performing in your town - let me know! Rehearsal for the guest would take around one or two hours. Preferably the day before the show. CasioNova makes an ideal support act or if there is no headlining act a DJ, (or a particularly wicked mix-tape) for the continuation of festivities. Setup & Soundcheck: 15minutes (if equipment has been preset offstage). For short cabaret spots, instant setup. Performance Length: any length up to 1 hour. |

CasioNova-Press Release No skill? No Money? No Talent? Superstardom can be yours! Described as the ultimate in geek chic, CasioNova straps on 80's home electronics, such as casiokeyboards and the commodore64 computer, and, well, erm, rocks out. Pure cheesecore. In 1981 the Casio corporation produced the first portable home electronic keyboard- the VL-1, originally intended to be a calculator. In 1986 as a youth growing up in Gold Coast city, Australia, CasioNova purchased his first Casio keyboard, he intended to be a circus freak. Years later he realised that hitting the demo button on a casio was more entertaining than nailing his head to a piece of wood. CasioNova's life is now dedicated to spreading his casiolove of DIY music-making and lo-tech autorythms around the world. CasioNova plays punkpop-electro ditties full of broken hearts, dinosaurs, space-men, lego and gratuitous references to Finland. His performance is filled with audience involvement, family slides, stupid stunts, way too many rock poses and of course everything you need to know about little toys that make a big noise. CasioNova has inspired thousands to turn off their televisions and become bedroom superstars at many diverse venues including theatre festivals, electro clubs, music festivals, the National Gallery of Victoria, comedy clubs, beer soaked rock pubs and the lounge room of George and Gill. Help CasioNova fill the world with autochord goodness.÷ {insert event here} | ||||||||
