This is an appropriate Casio of the Week, since the song I just uploaded was made on it’s sister (thanks to christer - who records under the name Twisted Krister - respect)
The DH I have is the DH-100, the most common one and looks like a saxaphone, albeit small and plastic. The picture above reveals an utterly more space age device, which makes me think it had it’s only release in Japan, since the Japanese dig cool things like giant killer robots that grow out of little boys heads.
What the DH-280 has over the DH-100, apart from sex appeal (which incidently is the polar opposite to sax appeal, the sax being the most unsexy and appalling instrument in humanities history) is the inclusion of…
15 drum rhythms! AND a rom pack slot! WOW! A saxamaphone that can play the Star Wars theme!
I dont know what it would sound like, perhaps a like a late Casio PT? The onboard sounds are exactly the same as the DH-100, all ‘resemble’ a wind instrument of some sort. One of which you can hear in the ‘I’m A Casioboy’ song by me, it’s the higher pitched sound that I have run through a distortion pedal for some, but not all of the song.
The not so great thing about the DH-280 is that I could never play ‘I’m a Casioboy’ on it because it doesn’t have a midi out port (the bass sound I used, with a Casio CZ101).
Still, incredibly desirable - perhaps even more durable because of the keys aren’t dumb ass imitation saxaphone levers that suck like on the dh-100 but rather buttons. Man it looks cool - I imagine Casio was trying to out cool the yamaha wind controller which the world knows about. Sadly the DH-280 has disappeared into the mists of the very occasional very expensive Ebay listing.
